Students Chose the Teaching Tops Award Recipients for the Academic Year 2025–2026

The Student Union VAMOK has recognized the Teaching Tops Award recipients for the academic year 2025–2026 based on student feedback. In a survey conducted in April, students were invited to highlight teachers who had made a significant impact on their learning, created a supportive learning environment, and contributed positively to the student experience.

Based on the feedback received, VAMOK selected one Teaching Tops Award recipient from each academic unit. The awards were presented by VAMOK Chairperson Samuel Malm and Student Advocacy coordinator Eelis Vesanto. The recipients received a diploma and a gift card in recognition of their valuable work for students.

Onni Pyhälahti, Technology

Onni Pyhälahti, selected as the Teaching Top Award recipient for the Technology unit, was praised by students for his exceptional ability to make challenging mathematics topics easy to understand. Students also highlighted the safe, encouraging, and engaging atmosphere he creates in his classes, making it easier for students to participate actively and succeed in their studies.

Tero Ulvila, Business

Tero Ulvila, selected as the Teaching Top Award recipient for the Business Administration unit, impressed students with his extensive expertise and student-centered approach to teaching. According to the feedback, he effectively recognizes different skill levels among students and adapts his teaching to ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn and develop. Students also described him as approachable and always willing to help.

Jussi Luoma, Health Care and Social Services

Jussi Luoma, selected as the Teaching Top Award recipient for the Health Care and Social Services unit, received praise for his professional expertise, encouraging attitude, and genuine interest in his students. According to the feedback, he teaches with passion and inspires students to engage in discussion, think critically, and develop their own perspectives.

VAMOK warmly congratulates all Teaching Top Award recipients of the academic year 2025–2026 and extends its thanks to the entire staff of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences for the past academic year. The Student Union wishes the whole university community a relaxing and enjoyable summer.
